Elementor and WPBakery Page Builder In Comparison

WordPress is truly a massive resource where users can find anything they need to build up an attractive website. In the previous article, we recommended a list of powerful page builder plugins which help users facilitate the website building process. Today, we are going to put 2 popular plugins in that list in a comparison: Elementor and WPBakery Page Builder.

If you find it difficult to answer the question "Which one is the right choice for your website?", continue reading to find some clues and make your decision.

Originally launched in 2016, Elementor has been strongly developing and become one of the most popular WordPress page builders in existence. On the other hand, WPBakery Page Builder is known as a massively premium plugin mostly coming with themes on Themeforest. In particular, most of TemPlaza's themes are also using WPBakery Page Builder.

In the scale of this article, we will compare these 2 plugins according to following criteria:

  • Interface
  • Number of available elements
  • Styling options
  • Pre-made templates

Let's go into detail!

1. Interface

The first thing you can see when you use the Elementor is that all elements available on the right sidebar. You just need to drag the desired element and drop to the preview panel. This feature allows you to find and add new elements quickly. On the other hand, for WPBakery page builder, you have to click on the plus icon to see the element table.

The second difference between these plugins is inline editing functionality. For WPBakery page builder, you will edit in a popup if you want to edit an element while with Elementor, you can enable inline editing functionality so that you can edit content easily and quickly.

The third difference is that if the Elementor offers a smooth back-end editing experience, WPBakery's users can choose either Backend or Frontend editing. However, WPBakery has not supported inline editing. Instead, all editing actions are practiced in popups which sometimes takes a bit more editing time.

Which is better? If you are a fan of Frontend Editor, obviously, Elementor wins. However, if you want to use the Backend Editor to clearly manage the page structure, you can go with WPBakery Page Builder.

2. Number of available elements

Both these plugins provide users with a big collection of elements. In Pro version of Elementor, users can take advantages of 53 elements to build up their websites as quick and easy as possible. On the other hand, WPBakery lets you access more than 50 core elements and up to 200 additional elements.

Which is better? In term of built-in elements, two plugins are relatively equal. However, if you want to have more elements available via add-ons, WPBakery Page Builder is the best choice. Otherwise, you should consider the plugin that offers more elements you need to build up your site.

3. Styling Options

Let's see how far you can go with these 2 plugins. Elementor divides styling options into 2 tabs: Style and Advanced option.

  • Style: Change the basic things such as Color or alignment.
  • Advanced: Change other things including margins, paddings, z-index, animation, borders, and responsive design settings. Especially, you are able to add custom CSS directly to the element.

It is totally different from WPBakery Page Builder. If you are editing an element, you can margins, paddings, borders and background in this element. In case you want to edit a row/column, you have another set of options.

Which is better? I prefer the Elementor's styling options because they are easier to use and access from the sidebar area.

4. Pre-made templates

Elementor and WPBakery give you massive sources of pre-made templates which save you from building your website from scratch. There are more than 120 pre-built templates in Elementor and over 85 ones in WPBakery Page Builder.

Which is better? In term of pre-made templates, both of these plugins are same.

5. Unique features

Up to now, we have gone through lots of differences between these 2 plugins. Let's take a look at unique features of each plugin.

  • Elementors:

+ Embed Anywhere: Elementor provides shortcodes that allows you to add your templates anywhere.
+ Global Widget: This very cool function helps you save a large amount of time. When you edit a design, these changes will automatically update every single place where you use the global widget.
+ Maintenance mode: You can use a pre-made template and put your site into Maintenance mode easily.

  • WPBakery Page Builder:

+ Role Manager: Lets you control access to specific parts of WPBakery Page Builder interface.
         +
