How to Install Joomla! 3 Template with Quickstart Using Cpanel

How to install a template in a site? That is an easy question for a seasoned Joomler but a little bit more difficult for a novice, especial the installation via Cpanel. Thus, in this post, TemPlaza Team will give you some basic steps to install a Joomla! 3 template with Quickstart Package in Cpanel.

In general, there are 3 parts including many small steps that you can follow easily. Before the start, there should be a live site with Cpanel account and zipped quickstart package available.

Now, let’s begin to build your site.

PART I: CREATE DATABASE

This is a very important part when you install a Joomla! site. If there is database available for your site, you can skip this part and use it.

Firstly, log in the Cpanel of your site, then go to My SQL Databases in DATABASES part. And on the way to create database for your site, remember to save the information for after use.

Step 1: Create New Database

In this step, you enter the database name, then click on Create Database button to continue.

Step 2: Add New User

Please enter Username and Password for Database, then click on Create User button.

Step 3: Add User to Database

Please choose the Username created in step 2 for User part, and Database in step 1. Then click on Add.

Step 4: Manage User Privileges

In this part, you can manage User Privileges for new created user here, and then choose Make Changes to complete the creating database process.

PART II: UPLOAD THE QUICKSTART PACKAGE INTO CPANEL

Step 1: Upload the quickstart file

Firstly, click on ‘’File Manager’’ in FILES part to open the File Manager window.

Secondly, open the folder where your data will be stored. public_html is a familiar for a new domain. If you want to build a subdomain, a folder is your destination.

Next, click on ‘’Upload’’ button at the top to open the Upload Files window. You can manage the data by selecting the permission level here. 7-7-5 is a familiar choice here.

Now, click on ‘’Browser’’ button and navigate to the quickstart package. Wait until the uploading completes, you can see the quickstart.zip package in public_html folder.

Step 2: Extract the quickstart file

Now, please choose the zipped package and click on ‘’Extract’’ button at the top to unzip it.

As the result, the quickstart package of the template is now in your database and let open your domain to start the installation in your site.

PART III: INSTALLATION IN THE SITE

Step 1: In tab Configuration, you can select language, add site name and enter admin information of the site.

Then, click ‘’Next’’ button at the top right to continue.

Step 2: In tab Database, please choose Database Type, Enter Host Name, Username, Password, Database Name and Table Prefix as your Cpanel. Database here will be taken from the one you created in Part I. Table Prefix is often automatically created.

Then click on ‘’Next’’ button to go to step 3.

Step 3: In tab Overview, you can check information related to your site. If there is something wrong, you can click on ‘’Previous’’ button to edit it. For beginner, it should be selected the sample data for the site.

Then, click on Install button and wait until the process is completed.

Step 4: After the process, you will see a message informing the successful installation. Please click on Remove Installation folder to finish the work. Here, you can also install multi-languages for your site.

All you have to do now is just to go to your site and see your new house.
